Garmin Approach Z82 boasts the very latest technology to help you make decisions out on the golf course. With image stabilisation and the Flag Finder function, you’ll easily find the flag with precision from over 400 m away. The PlaysLike distance function then gives you the exact measurement with gradient taken into account, and if that were not enough, you also get an indication of wind speed and direction. Pin Pointer gives you the exact direction to the green even if it’s outside your field of vision. Like Garmin’s GPS watches, the rangefinder comes pre-installed with 41,000 courses worldwide. On the left side of the full-colour screen when you look through the viewer, you’ll see a complete overview of the hole you’re playing. Using this 2D hole view, you can easily see the distance to various obstacles, lay-up options and green view gives you the precise distance to the front edge, back edge and the center. The Laser range arc technology draws a virtual arc over the course view like a course guide. Approach Z82 has also been updated with a visual indicator at the top of the viewer which shows when it is tournament-approved and has the PlaysLike distance function turned off.
Playslike Distance, With settings for uphill and downhill slopes, you get the exact distance to the flag. The rangefinder calculates what the distance plays like with the gradient taken into account. The rangefinder also shows which way the wind is blowing so you can incorporate that knowledge into your choice of club. The Playslike function can easily be switched off and is clearly indicated on the top of the rangefinder to show that it is in tournament mode.
Flag Finder, The Pin Pointer feature gives you the exact direction to the green, even if it’s outside your field of vision. The rangefinder also has a function that locks onto the pin when you find it and notifies you with a vibration. The Laser Range Arc feature draws a laser distance arc in the course view of the rangefinder so you get a good overview of how the hole is played.
Course View, With the rangefinder’s integrated GPS, you get a 2D overview of the hole’s layout. With over 41,000 preloaded courses, you see the hole in the side of the viewer when you look through the rangefinder. With this feature, like in Garmin’s watches, you get a total overview of the hole with hazards and layup options.
