Get to know our expert Alex Wrigley

He is a former professional player, with the 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022 as a career highlight. He spent 10 years caddying for his wife, Johanna Wrigley (formerly Gustavsson), on the LET, and the past eight years coaching Johanna as well as other professionals on tours across Europe. He also works with keen amateur golfers looking to get a little more out of their game.

How did you start playing golf?

– I was introduced to the game at the age of seven by my grandfather, and I quickly developed a keen interest in all things golf. After playing many sports growing up, I decided that golf was the sport I wanted to pursue seriously. Shortly after turning 18, I enrolled in the PGA Professional Training Program.

What is your greatest achievement in your playing career?

– From a playing perspective, like most professional golfers, my dream was always to make it onto the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. Unfortunately, I never managed to achieve that, with 2023 being my final attempt at DP World Tour Q-School. Over the course of my career, I won several pro-ams and professional events, including a title on the satellite tour, the Nordic Golf League. However, my greatest achievement was qualifying for the 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022, where I had the chance to tee it up alongside many of my golfing heroes.
