Team Europe - What’s in the bag?

Europe are the reigning champions, but they haven’t won on away soil since 2012. To retain the trophy, every player in the team will need to deliver top performances – and their equipment must work flawlessly. Here, we take a deep dive into the stars’ bags and check out which clubs they trust at Bethpage Black.

Ludvig Åberg

Driver: Titleist TSR2 9°, Fujikura Ventus Black 6X

FW3: TaylorMade Stealth 2 15°, Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 8 X

FW7: TaylorMade Stealth 2 21°, Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 9 X

Irons: Titleist T100 3G 4-Pw, KBS Tour X

Wedges: Titleist SM10 50, 54 & Titleist Wedgeworks 60

Putter: Odyssey Ai One #1

Ball: Titleist Pro V1X

Expert’s comment:

Ludvig was already playing mostly with Titleist clubs during his college years in Texas, so it was only a matter of time before the brand signed him once he turned pro and could properly be featured in their marketing. He tried the GT2 driver but felt more confident with the TSR2, and quickly switched back. Recently, he’s been experimenting with a T350 2-iron in the bag, but now that Åberg is back on American soil, it’s likely to be replaced by his steady FW7. The latest addition to the Swede’s bag is an Ai One putter from Odyssey – similar to his previous putter but with more technology and painted in Europe’s colours. Very cool!

Rory McIlroy

Driver: TaylorMade Qi10 9° @ 8.25°, Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X

FW3: TaylorMade Qi10 15°, Fujikura Ventus Black 8 X

FW5: TaylorMade Qi10 18°, Fujikura Ventus Black 9 X

Irons: TaylorMade P760 4 & TaylorMade P-Series Rors Proto 5-Pw, Project X 7.0

Wedges: TaylorMade MG5 46, 50, 54, 60

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour X3

Ball: TaylorMade TP5

Expert’s comment:

Hard to believe that Rory was once just as closely associated with Nike clubs as he is with TaylorMade today. He gave the Qi35 driver a go early in the season, but it didn’t stay in the bag for long – and judging by his success in 2025, trusting the Qi10 proved to be the right move. He’s gone all in on the stiffest Ventus shafts on the market to match his high swing speed with the woods. His irons are a custom prototype TaylorMade designed for him – you know you’ve made it when your name is on a set of blades. A full TaylorMade setup including the ball. The Northern Irishman knows what he likes and keeps it classic.

Viktor Hovland

Driver: Ping G425 LST driver 9° @ 8.4°, Fujikura Speeder 661 TR X

FW3: TaylorMade Qi35 15°, Ventus Black 7X

Utility: Ping iDi 20°, Graphite Design DI85 X

Irons: Ping i210 4–PW, KBS Tour-V 120 X

Wedges: Ping s159 50, 56 & Ping Glide 2.0 60

Putter: Ping PLD DS 72 Prototype

Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Expert’s comment:

The cheerful Norwegian isn’t one to swap out his equipment lightly. Both his driver and iron set are older models – but the key is playing with the right clubs, not the newest ones. That said, we have seen two updates this year: the Qi35 has replaced his Qi10 in the 3-wood slot, and the new Ping iDi utility went straight into the bag upon release. What stands out is his shaft choice in the irons – the KBS Tour V is a lightweight model that produces slightly less spin than the standard Tour version, and it’s rarely seen on tour. Hovland’s setup is dialled in to perfection – and with a nearly identical bag to the one he had during Europe’s dominant Ryder Cup run, fans have every reason to hope for another hot streak.

Tommy Fleetwood

Engelska (brittisk):

Driver: TaylorMade Qi35 10°, Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X

Mini Driver: TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver 13.5°, Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X

FW5: TaylorMade Qi35 18°, Mitsubishi Kuro Kage 80 TX

FW9: TaylorMade Qi10 24°, Mitsubishi Kuro Kage 80 TX

Irons: TaylorMade P7TW 5–Pw, True Temper Project X 6.5

Wedges: TaylorMade Hi-Toe 4 wedge 52 & TaylorMade MG Proto 56 & 60

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour

Ball: TaylorMade TP5X Pix

Expert’s comment:

He’s never been afraid to go his own way when it comes to gear – and has actually helped start trends like the mini driver and FW9. One of the few players without a 4-iron in the bag, replaced by that FW9. It’s handy for launching high, long shots that can still hold firm greens – a potential weapon at Bethpage? The hand-painted alignment marks on the top of his Spider putter might not win any beauty contests, but they clearly work for Fleetwood. Using a Hi-Toe wedge as a gap wedge is also a rare sight – that model is usually reserved for sand or lob wedges.

Jon Rahm

Driver: Callaway Elyte TD 10.5°, Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X

FW3: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD T 16°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X

FW5: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD T 18°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X

Utility: Callaway Apex UT 21°, KBS Tour Hybrid Prototype 105 X

Irons: Callaway Apex Pro J4 & Callaway Apex TCB 5–10, Project X 6.5

Wedges: Callaway Jaws Raw 52, 56 & Callaway Opus Prototype 60

Putter: Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie

Ball: Callaway Chrome Tour

Expert’s comment:

Rahmbo has the potential to be a key figure for Team Europe – and you can count on him wanting to put on a show for the crowds once again. Jon almost always switches to Callaway’s latest driver each season, and 2025 is no exception. However, he’s ditched his long-trusted Aldila Green shaft in favour of the Ventus trend. At one point, it seemed like he’d be buried with that green shaft! At the other end of the bag, we see a return: Rahm is back with his Rossie putter, the same model he trusted for years before trying out an Ai One on the LIV Tour. His iron setup is a TCB (Tour Cavity Back) model – reserved for players with VIP access to Callaway’s tour department. One question mark is whether he’ll give Callaway’s new Opus SP wedges the nod at Bethpage, or stick with his familiar Jaws. Word is, the Opus SPs have made appearances in his training rounds.

Rasmus Højgaard

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD 10.5°, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Blue 60 TX

FW3: Callaway Elyte TD 15°, Graphite Design Tour AD VF 8 TX

Hybrid: Callaway Apex UW 21°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 85 TX

Irons: Callaway X-Forged Proto 4–PW, KBS $-Taper 130 X

Wedges: Callaway Opus 52 & 60, Callaway Opus SP 56

Putter: Odyssey Ai One Milled Jailbird Mini T

Ball: Callaway Chrome Tour X

Expert’s comment:

Rasmus and his twin brother Nicolai both left their TaylorMade contracts behind last year and joined the Callaway team instead. His X Forged irons in a prototype version are real eye-catchers – put them on eBay and there’d be a bidding war. It remains to be seen whether Rasmus chooses a utility or hybrid above his irons. He’s mostly gone with a hybrid, but the utility club has made more appearances recently leading up to the Ryder Cup. Fun to see he already had Europe-stamped wedges in the bag at Wentworth – this is a guy clearly fired up for his debut.

Matt Fitzpatrick

Engelska (brittisk):

Driver: Titleist GT3 9°, Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX

FW3: TaylorMade Qi35 15°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 75 TX

FW5: TaylorMade Qi35 18°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 75 TX

Irons: Ping i210 J4, Ping S55 5–9, Project X LZ 6.5

Wedges: Titleist SM10 48, 52, 56, 60

Putter: Bettinardi BB48 DASS Proto

Ball: Titleist Pro V1X

Expert’s comment:

Calling Fitzpatrick a golf nerd would be a massive understatement. Swing mechanics, strategy and equipment are all analysed down to the finest detail. Worth noting is that he recently switched to a new prototype putter from Bettinardi – a mallet-style head replacing his previous blade. Rumour has it the process took five years of negotiations between Fitzpatrick and Bettinardi’s team before he finally put their putter in play. In his younger years, he used a model from the now somewhat forgotten brand Yes! To satisfy his preferences, Bettinardi had to produce 25 different prototypes for him to test – all with the same kind of face insert as on his beloved Yes! Another detail worth pointing out: his cool iron set dates back to 2013. He’s tried to replace it several times, but it seems nearly impossible.

Shane Lowry

Driver: Srixon ZXi LS+ 9°, Mitsubishi Diamana White 70 X

FW3: TaylorMade Qi35 16.5°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X

Utility: Srixon ZXi Utility3 20°, Fujikura Ventus Blue 9 X

Irons: Srixon ZXi5 4–5 & Srixon ZXi7 6–PW, KBS Tour 130 X

Wedges: Cleveland RTZ 52, 56, 60

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour X Z3

Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV

Expert’s comment:

A proud ambassador for Srixon/Cleveland. His utility and combo iron set flow together beautifully. Srixon has had an incredible 2025, racking up wins across global tours. Lowry keeps things relatively simple, opting out of blade irons – despite having world-class ball striking. It’s also great to see him comfortable with the Srixon driver. For those who haven’t tried it yet, it’s a hidden gem. He doesn’t appear to be locked into a full 14-club deal, which gives him the freedom to pick what works – in this case, a TaylorMade fairway wood and their ever-popular Spider putter. We’ve seen that combo before, and we’re all for it.

Justin Rose

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD Driver 9°, Diamana Whiteboard 63 TX

Mini Driver: TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver 13.0°, Diamana Whiteboard 73 TX

FW7: TaylorMade M6 21°, Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 80 TX

Irons: Titleist 620 CB 4–6 & Miura MC-502 7–PW

Wedges: Titleist SM10 52, 56 & Titleist WedgeWorks 60

Putter: Scotty Cameron T-5

Ball: Titleist Pro V1 Left Dash

Expert’s comment:

Justin Rose is a true gear enthusiast – meticulous with his club choices but not afraid to change what doesn’t perform. He swaps drivers more often than a high-handicapper needs a new ball retriever, but for now, the Ai Smoke TD appears to be his go-to. It’s a driver built for pure distance. As backup, he carries the iconic TaylorMade R7 Mini Driver – ideal when accuracy is the priority. In 2019, he signed a huge deal with Japanese brand Honma and won his first event with them, but things slowly went downhill. As a free agent, Rose has rediscovered his form and is a solid pick for the team. Last Ryder Cup, he was on fire with his custom Axis putter – this time, he’s swapped it for a Circle T by Scotty Cameron. Let’s hope it delivers just as well.

Tyrrell Hatton

Driver: Ping G440 Max 9°, Fujikura Ventus Red TR 6X

FW3: Ping G430 Max 14.5°, Mitsubishi Diamana DF 70 TX

FW7: Ping G430 Max 21°, Mitsubishi Diamana DF 80 TX

Irons: Ping i240 4–6 & Ping Blueprint S 7–Pw, Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 X

Wedges: Ping S159 50, 54 & Titleist WedgeWorks 60 degrees

Putter: Ping PLD Oslo Prototype

Ball: Titleist Pro V1X

Expert’s comment:

Hatton has become nearly synonymous with Ping – 13 of the 14 clubs in his bag come from the American brand. The only exception? A seriously tour-grade 60° wedge from Titleist WedgeWorks. Earlier in his career, the LIV player often opted for Ping’s LST (Low Spin Technology) drivers, but he’s since settled on the Max model as the best fit. He’s paired it with a Ventus Red shaft – a combination that’s fairly rare among top-tier players and generally seen as more forgiving and easy to swing. Here’s hoping it keeps Hatton in good spirits (read: less angry) during the final weekend in September.

Robert MacIntyre

Driver: Titleist TSR2 Driver 9°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7 X

FW3: TaylorMade AeroBurner 15°, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw White 85 TX

Hybrid: TaylorMade Stealth 2 19°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 105 X

Irons: Titleist 620 CB 4–9, True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100

Wedges: Titleist SM10 46 & Titleist SM9 50, 56 & Titleist WedgeWorks 60

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour #3

Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Expert’s comment:

Not much new in Bob’s tour bag – these are clubs he trusts. It’s quite something that he’s still using the not-so-glamorous AeroBurner fairway wood from 2015. Not many Ryder Cup players carry a hybrid, but MacIntyre is one of them. His CB irons are not for beginners – he’s had them since college and won’t be swapping them any time soon. If Bob can keep the long game tidy, we know those Titleist wedges of his will keep firing darts at the flag.

Sepp Straka

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD Max 9°, Fujikura Ventus VeloCore+ Blue 6 X

FW3: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD 15°, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Red 80 TX

FW7: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke TD 20°, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Orange 80 TX

Irons: Srixon ZXi5 4–5 & Srixon ZXi7 6–PW, True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100

Wedges: Cleveland RTZ 46, 52, 56, 60

Putter: Odyssey Tuttle Stroke Lab

Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV

Expert’s comment:

It might seem like the most logical setup – having all your metalwoods from the same series – but it’s actually a rare sight. Straka has gone all in on Callaway’s low-spin Ai Smoke Triple Diamond models for his long game, a lineup released last season. Still, most fans associate him more with Srixon (could be the cap, right?). Interestingly, he plays the exact same iron combo set as Lowry. And that Odyssey Tuttle putter? It’s a subtle nod to the legendary Zebra putters from the 70s. Altogether, a no-nonsense, dependable setup – nothing flashy, just functional.
