Ping i
Ping’s i-series has been a favourite among skilled golfers for many years, and for 2026 the i540 arrives as the direct replacement for the i530. It is a clean, compact distance iron for players who want more speed and distance – without sacrificing stopping power and feel into the green. The line-up includes two models:
i540 – A modern compact distance iron for the player who wants more ball speed, greater distance and higher peak height without compromising control.
i240 – A more precision-focused model suited to players with a stable single-figure handicap who prioritise control and consistency over maximum distance.
Ping i540 is engineered to deliver higher ball speed and improved peak height, so your shots not only travel far – they also stop where you want them to. By making the face thinner and saving weight in the construction, Ping has been able to position tungsten weighting low in the sole of the longer irons (4–7). This lowers the centre of gravity and helps launch the ball higher with more speed and improved stopping control.
The forged maraging steel face is 9% thinner and features variable thickness, allowing it to flex more – almost like a metalwood – creating extra energy at impact.
One of the new features is inR-Air Technology, where a specially developed air-filled insert behind the face enhances sound and feel without interfering with the face flex. The result is a softer and more solid impact sensation.
Combined with i-Beam Technology, which reinforces the body and improves stability, you get a blend of speed, feel and control in a confident and appealing shape.
In short: Ping i540 is a modern distance iron for players who want length with precision, while i240 is the choice for golfers who prioritise pinpoint control.
