How to keep your shoes in good condition for longer

Do you just throw your shoes into the car boot after a round and take them out again when it’s time for your next game? If so, there are a few things you should know if you want to make them last. Here are our five top tips on how to keep your golf shoes in tip-top condition.

1. Tie your laces

It feels so much easier to just push your foot down into your shoe, doesn’t it? But if you remember to untie your laces after your round it will stop you being tempted. This way, you’ll be taking good care of the heel cap and preserving the right support and fit in the shoe’s heel. Using a shoe horn is also an excellent idea.

2. Wipe down your shoes

Make it a habit to wipe dried mud and grass off your shoes after your round. A clean shoe reduces wear and ensures the shoe stays looking good for longer. Simple, quick and effective.

3. Treat them well

In truth, leather shoes should be treated with a leather care product. But all shoes benefit from waterproofing – it helps preserve the shoes’ breathability and waterproof feature, helps them last longer and protects them against moisture and dirt.

4. Use a shoe block

To maintain the shape of your shoes, we recommend using a shoe block. Your shoes should also be kept at room temperature – which is rarely the case in your car boot.

5. Alternate between two pairs of shoes

Do you play a lot of golf? If so, it’s worth considering having two pairs of shoes that you alternate between. This allows the shoes to dry and rest between rounds and prevents them from wearing too quickly.
